Journalism & Broadcast Showcase
I have been working at CBS affiliate WFRV Local 5 since 2025, but my interest in journalism started much earlier. I was the co-editor of my high school yearbook twice and the editor of my school newspaper. Through that experience, I learned how much I love storytelling and how I can achieve that through different mediums. I wrote print stories, worked on photography and page layout and design, and started a weekly video announcement program.
I have gained experience as a Production Assistant/Floor Crew for the AM shift at Local 5, where I operate the in-studio cameras as well as manage guests and run the audio board for the live broadcasts. This job has allowed me to learn a lot about both the station and the broadcast news industry.
I have since moved to a news photographer position at WFRV 5.

Student Newscast
This broadcast is one of the projects I am most proud of. I did almost everything to put this broadcast together. I featured packages and interviews with several other students, all of which I problem solved and wrote questions for ahead of time.
I also feature a news package that I filmed, reported, and edited myself about the construction at NWTC. This standalone package can be found below. This broadcast was an amazing showcase of my widely applicable broadcast knowledge and skills.
In addition to producing and writing the show, I also anchored the newscast. This gave me more control over the final product and a unique experience. I used a teleprompter which you can see me controlling throughout the broadcast by a remote.
As part of the broadcast, I interviewed one of my classmates. Interviewing is one of my favorite things to do, and I have lots of experience from four years of working on yearbook staff.
The script for this newscast was written in an audio/video table format for my director and technical director. I used this script for my teleprompter as well. I produced by writing the script and deciding what stories were timely and relevant to my broadcast date
I have become familiar with a broadcast show rundown through my work at Local 5, and to help me organize everything for the show I created my own rundown in a spreadsheet application. In addition, I used photo and video editing skills to create all of my own motion graphics and full-screen graphics.

This is a broadcast package I produced, reported, filmed, and edited for my own newscast. It's a great example of my varied broadcast skills. I hope to move to a photojournalist, editor, or directing position in my future either at my station or another local channel.
Varied Experience-Local 5
During my time as a production assistant at Local 5, I had the opportunity to work on various special projects. I operated a camera for the Appleton Christmas Parade, Flag Day parade, and Fourth of July Peek-a-boom and fireworks broadcast. During the summer on-location Local Five Live series Our Town I directed guests and crew on set and operated a camera.
I am currently working as a news photographer where I capture stories and events in our Northeast Wisconsin community.
